The Office of Compliance and Ethics, managed by the Chief Compliance and Ethics Officer (CCEO), includes three units: Compliance and Ethics Program, Enterprise Risk Management and Athletics Compliance.
Compliance and Ethics Program
Appalachian State University is committed to operating in a manner that upholds the highest ethical standards and complies with all applicable laws, regulations, and policies. Because the university engages in a broad range of activities, the number and scope of compliance requirements are extensive.
The Compliance and Ethics Program, administered by the Office of Compliance and Ethics, aims to enhance compliance awareness throughout the campus community. It supports faculty, staff, and other community members in fulfilling their responsibilities with integrity. This enterprise-wide effort depends on contributions from everyone to succeed and underscores the university's commitment to a culture of integrity and compliance.
Enterprise Risk Management
The Office of Enterprise Risk Management oversees and facilitates the university's risk management strategies to protect and enhance Appalachian State's value. This includes managing the university's property and casualty programs, producing risk assessments, and collaborating with risk owners to identify innovative ways to manage everyday risk.
Athletics Compliance
The Athletics Compliance Office coordinates, monitors, and verifies compliance with NCAA, Sun Belt Conference, and university rules, regulations, and policies. The office promotes a culture of compliance, accountability, and student-athlete well-being.
